Small Hours — Fictional Exhibition

Past demo exhibition · 1–8 September 2026 · The Painted Room, an imagined venue.

Fictional exhibition — demonstration only. This is a sample archive entry for an invented exhibition. Julian Demowells and the venue are fictional; no real event took place.

Small Hours

An imagined three-work presentation explores rooms at the edge of evening. Windows hold cooler colours while lamps, curtains and tabletops retain small areas of warmth. The paintings use those contrasts to suggest presence without including a figure.

The window holds the cool remains of the evening while warmer colours gather inside the room.

The proposed display gives each work a quiet stretch of wall, encouraging a slower movement from one scene to another. Repeated window shapes provide a loose structure, while changes in scale and colour keep the sequence open.
